Consulting
Expert guidance for planning, migrating, or optimizing your data pipeline. Standalone engagements or as part of a Managed or Turnkey deployment.
When to Engage Consulting
DataBridge consulting engagements are available as standalone services or bundled with Managed and Turnkey deployments. Pipeline Scoping is included with every Managed and Turnkey engagement at no additional cost — it is the first step in every deployment. Architecture Review, Migration Consulting, Datacenter Site Survey, and Cloud Cost Optimization are available as add-on engagements for any service tier, including Self-Serve teams that want expert guidance without committing to managed operations.
Our consulting team includes the same engineers who build and operate DataBridge in production. They have hands-on experience with the hardware, the software, the network configurations, and the operational edge cases that emerge at scale. This is not theoretical advice from consultants who have never run a pipeline — it is practical guidance from engineers who have debugged USB flap events at 3am, diagnosed S3 multipart upload failures across regions, and optimized Direct Connect circuits for maximum sustained throughput.
Pipeline Scoping
A structured engineering assessment of your data operation. We analyze your capture volume, device types, datacenter infrastructure, cloud targets, and compliance requirements to produce a concrete system design document — not a sales proposal. The output specifies server count, hardware configuration, network topology, software deployment plan, and monitoring architecture. Typical duration: 1-2 weeks.
Architecture Review
For teams that have an existing data pipeline — whether built in-house, cobbled together from scripts and cron jobs, or based on another product — we provide a thorough architecture review. We evaluate throughput bottlenecks, integrity gaps (are you verifying data after upload?), monitoring blind spots, and operational fragility. The deliverable is a prioritized list of recommendations with estimated effort and impact for each. Typical duration: 1 week.
Migration Consulting
Moving from an existing ingest system to DataBridge requires careful planning to avoid data loss or downtime. We design the migration path: parallel running period (old and new systems ingesting simultaneously), data reconciliation between systems, cutover plan with rollback procedures, and operator retraining. For teams migrating from manual rsync/rclone workflows or from competing products, we handle the mapping of existing metadata and tracking systems to DataBridge's labeling and audit model. Typical duration: 2-4 weeks.
Datacenter Site Survey
Before deploying hardware, we conduct a virtual or on-site survey of your datacenter facility. We assess available rack space, power capacity (per-rack and aggregate), cooling adequacy for sustained I/O workloads, network infrastructure (switch fabric, uplink capacity, available ports), and connectivity to cloud providers (on-net providers, cross-connect availability, existing circuits). The survey output feeds directly into the hardware specification and network design. Typical duration: 1-2 days.
Cloud Cost Optimization
For teams already running DataBridge or similar pipelines, we audit your cloud storage costs and recommend optimizations. This includes S3 storage class analysis (Standard vs. Intelligent-Tiering vs. Glacier), lifecycle policy design for aging data, Direct Connect circuit right-sizing based on actual utilization patterns, transfer cost analysis across regions, and reserved capacity planning. Teams typically see 20-40% cost reduction after implementing our recommendations. Typical duration: 1 week.
How Engagements Work
Every consulting engagement follows the same structure: intake call to define scope and objectives, data gathering phase (access to systems, documentation review, stakeholder interviews), analysis and design, deliverable review with your team, and final handover. We work on fixed-scope engagements with clear deliverables and timelines — no open-ended retainers, no scope creep, no ambiguous milestones.
Deliverables are practical engineering documents, not slide decks. A Pipeline Scoping engagement produces a system design document that becomes the engineering blueprint for deployment. An Architecture Review produces a prioritized recommendation matrix with effort estimates. A Migration plan includes runbooks, rollback procedures, and validation checklists. Every deliverable is designed to be actionable — whether your team implements the recommendations internally or engages DataBridge for Managed or Turnkey deployment.
